Organic—the way it should be!

Organic farming promotes healthy soils for healthy crops and healthy people on a sustainable basis. We figure these are good reasons to go organic.

Captains Creek wines and ciders are made from grapes and apples grown organically without the use of synthetic chemicals or pesticides.

The orchard, vineyard, and wine/cider making process are certified by the National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia (NASAA Registration No. 3082). NASAA is accredited by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) ensuring their organic products meet the highest approval standards worldwide. Certification provides verification to the consumer that the grapes are grown using a sustainable organic agricultural system and the wine is not contaminated or mixed with undesirable additives during processing.

No synthetic chemical fertilisers, herbicides, insecticides or systemic fungicides are used in the vineyard. Instead, preventative spray programs using natural copper and sulphur control mildews, our Dorper sheep and mulching keep the weeds under control and beneficiary predatory insects help to naturally control the insect pest populations.

In the winery there are no chemical additives used throughout the wine making process. Physical movement and treatment of the wine is kept to a minimum and the essential natural preservative sulphur dioxide is kept to a minimum.
